Prevent Fine Lines And Wrinkles Around The Lips

The lips are surrounded by a sensitive layer of skin (similar to the area around the eyes). It is for this reason that wrinkles and fine lines appear in this area more than anywhere else on the face.

Fine lines around the lips: Why, where, how

When wrinkles appear over the lips, they are known as “barcodes”. There are many reasons for fine lines around the mouth. Some of them are:

  • Excessive stress or anxiety that causes you to press your lips together.
  • That you lick your lips repeatedly during the day.
  • Poor skin care habits.
  • Lack of moisture.
  • A diet low in vitamins and minerals.
  • That you do not get enough antioxidants.
  • Excessive exposure to sun, wind or cold without proper protection.
  • That the muscles around the lips do not get enough exercise.
  • That one drinks with a straw or smokes (narrowing of the lips).
  • Poor circulation in the area.

How to reduce wrinkles and fine lines around the lips

If the first signs of wrinkles begin to appear on the sides of the mouth and they have begun to interfere with the appearance, it is a good idea to first deal with this by following these tips. If they have not yet started to appear, you should pay attention to these tips, because they can also help you avoid fine lines and wrinkles (they are also good if you suffer from dry, chapped lips).

Exercises for the mouth

How do you train your mouth? Do not worry, you do not have to go to a special school to learn. You can do these exercises at home (or wherever you want). This exercise routine will strengthen the muscles around the lips and promote blood circulation.

  • Open your mouth slowly as if you are going to say “O” or yawn.
  • Then open your mouth as if to say “A”.
  • Switch between these two positions without closing your mouth.

You will feel some tension when you move your lips because they are not used to it, but this is normal. If the reason for this is because you have dry lips, apply a few drops of almond oil before you start and you will notice the difference.

Body awareness

Pay attention to the position of your lips when going to your daily activities: at work, school, home, while watching TV, reading a book or chatting with a friend. Often we do not realize that we are squeezing our lips together, especially if we are angry, tense or nervous. If you find yourself sniffing your lips, make them relax immediately.

Essential oils

As in the example above with almond oil, there are other interesting methods to keep your lips healthy and wrinkle-free. When you bathe, hot water will cause the pores to open up. Use this time to apply essential oil of, for example, walnut.

If you do not plan to take a bath, you can moisten a towel with warm water and massage around your mouth. Remember that this is a very sensitive area and that it can be burned by a towel that is too hot. Choose essential oils high in vitamin E to combat and prevent fine lines and wrinkles.

There are many different options for nourishing and caring for the skin to avoid the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. We will share some of our recipes for masks:

Recipe 1

  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Mix the three ingredients together and spread it around the lips with soft, circular motions. Let it work for a few minutes and rinse with warm water.

Recipe 2

  • 3 tbsp beeswax
  • 5 drops of apricot oil
  • 5 drops of essential oil of camphor

Mix well and apply this ointment around the lips. Not only will it help eliminate wrinkles, but it will moisturize dry, chapped lips.

Creams are great for moisturizing and for avoiding the awful lines that appear. A good method is to mix aloe vera and rosehips.

  • 1 stem of aloe vera
  • 1 handful of rosehips
  • 1 cup of water

Heat the water and the pinches together. Meanwhile, remove the jelly from the stem of the aloe vera. Allow the rosehip mixture to cool and strain it. Add some aloe vera jelly and apply on the lips. Do not overuse this cream, as it may cause you to experience the opposite of the desired result.

A good diet is important for beautiful skin, whether it is around the mouth or elsewhere on the body. Juices and fresh salads are very beneficial for your health, inside and out. Include these foods in your diet for healthy and beautiful skin:

  • Avocado
  • Lucerne
  • Sesame
  • Carrots
  • Broccoli
  • Lemons
  • Guava
  • Tomatoes

They are all good sources of vitamin E, antioxidants, vitamin C and enzymes needed for smoother, younger looking skin.
